Be Careful What You Click When Installing Software

It is imperative that you read what you click on the computer , especially if you are installing software.

I recently had to reinstall Foxit Reader on a computer when the following screen was shown as part of the installation process.

Ask toolbar
The boxes were all ticked as you can see.

Well I did not want any of that and neither should you , so un-click all of them.

E bay
Then on the final screen was another E Bay install icon as part of the installation process.

If you are installing the Adobe Reader you will be asked if you want to install a McAfee add in.

Adobe , McAfee
Just remove the tick and proceed , as you do not need this as part of your installation of Adobe Reader

Just because the screens appear does not mean you have to accept the installation of the additional software and the problems that will come with installing these on your system , installing without these is the desirable outcome.

It's just like signing a contract , read the fine print before you commit because the consequences may come back to haunt you in the form of toolbars appearing.

Adobe Flash - Adobe Reader - Keep Them Updated

Adobe Flash is a required piece of software for most computer users but you should always be looking for a new version especially when a reminder appears on your computer saying there is a new version.

When you see the reminder for installing the new version of Adobe Flash just follow the instructions and download and install.

Adobe Reader is probably the most used piece of software for reading PDFs and you should also get a reminder occasionally saying there is a new version.

When you see the reminder for installing the new version of Adobe Reader just follow the instructions and download and install.

Installing the new versions of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash also assists in keeping your computer free from the potential security vunerablitites that can be associated with running out of date Adobe software.

Examples Of Fake Emails

The following are all fake emails that end up in peoples inbox.

Clicking on the links can lead to :

Infection by malware , virus

Installation of Trojans designed to steal your banking details , personal details

The above is one that claims my Bigpond account could be suspended , but it is a fake email that ended up in my Gmail spam folder.

Notice the red bar warning me.

Google produce a warning saying.

Warning: This message may not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information.

The next is from Paypal asking me to update my details.

Again it came with a warning from Google and it was sent to an email address I did not have with Paypal

Next this one which supposedly comes from Adobe and Apple

The first warning is the price

Now this is the email addresses that caused it to arrive in my inbox.

The address for Apple is incorrect , the address to me is wrong

Clicking on any of the links here could result in infection .

Heat , Memory Hogs , Look At Flash

FlashIcon

You know when you are surfing the web and you feel that your CPU is starting to accelerate , which causes heat and your memory usage starts to climb.

More than likely , Flash , is the cause.

When using Firefox you can install an add on Flashblock which will disable Flash on websites unless you click on the symbol to see that particular piece of Flash.

Flash 2
Flash also is a security risk when it is not kept up to date so make sure you check that your version of Flash is the most current.
