Review Of The Advertiser iPad App

I have given up buying the Advertiser.

Anyone who knows me , knows that i have always enjoyed buying the paper but since the release of The Advertiser iPad app , I have now stopped.

The Advertiser app costs $7.99 for 31 days which if you measure up against buying the paper is about a quarter of the cost.

If you are also interested in the environmental impact , look at the paper you are saving.

So how much of the paper are you getting ?

From my research I would say about 60% and for the most the stories you are missing are not the important ones.

So what do you get?

Front Page , with the main stories

  • News Front Page

  • South Australia

  • National

  • World

  • Video

  • Gallery

Business , Opinion , Life and of course Sport

When you start the app it checks for updated content which appears in the morning and in the afternoon if my experience is anything to go by.

There are ads , not as many as in the paper addition and you usually have to click through the link to the story which takes you to the ad which you can then either read or click CLOSE and then go through to the story.

The stories are for the most the same as you would read in the newspaper but in some cases have been condensed.

The app is responsive and on the iPad makes a good and pleasant reading experience, remember however this is not the whole paper and if experience has shown me that over the last couple of weeks I have not missed the other stories.
