Bogus Email Of The Week

This weeks bogus email is supposed to come from Telstra Bigpond.

It does not.

Do not click on the link as you will be infected by a virus.

Just delete these email.

What Is A Broadband Connection And Look At Your Plan?

I have been seeing a lot of people lately saying their connection is quiet slow.

If you are on a wireless usb connection with certain internet providers ( Vodaphone , Virgin to name just a couple) you will indeed have slow internet and is no match for a ADSL2 connection which comes through your phone line.

If you want a Mobile Broadband solution I currently recommend the mobile solutions from Telstra for speed and reliablity.

However there are certain internet providers that do not notify you if you can swap plans to a faster speed when you are on a ADSL connection.

Check what plan you are on.

There are some providers that still have people on a 256k to 64k plan and claim this is broadband.

This is not broadband and in most cases a simple contacting of your ISP can rectify this within the day and put you on a realistic speed ,3MB plus.

The reason is that you have not checked with your ISP and they in most cases seem quiet happy to leave you on an "old " plan and with some ISPs moving your plan can actually result in a decrease in your bill.

Examples Of Fake Emails

The following are all fake emails that end up in peoples inbox.

Clicking on the links can lead to :

Infection by malware , virus

Installation of Trojans designed to steal your banking details , personal details

The above is one that claims my Bigpond account could be suspended , but it is a fake email that ended up in my Gmail spam folder.

Notice the red bar warning me.

Google produce a warning saying.

Warning: This message may not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information.

The next is from Paypal asking me to update my details.

Again it came with a warning from Google and it was sent to an email address I did not have with Paypal

Next this one which supposedly comes from Adobe and Apple

The first warning is the price

Now this is the email addresses that caused it to arrive in my inbox.

The address for Apple is incorrect , the address to me is wrong

Clicking on any of the links here could result in infection .
